Firmware Updates

Card readers will automatically check for firmware updates when they connect (or in the case of Smart Readers, any time they're connected to the internet).

Some firmware updates are required so it's a good idea to give yourself time when connecting, in case a required firmware update begins.

Smart Readers attempt their updates in off-hours by default to avoid interruption.

Most firmware updates are optional for a period of time, and can be installed when convenient.
